Capsule reviews of current movies: Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire

"...HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE. The fourth "Harry Potter" movie revolves around fierce contests and frightful endurance tests. Think "Harry Potter, Fear Factor" and you're on the right track. The movie's ceaseless trials unfold against a backdrop of adolescent yearning as Harry (Daniel Radcliffe) and his pals (Rupert Grint and Emma Watson) inch toward maturity. This edition, directed by Mike Newell, consists mostly of action-oriented set pieces, some spectacular. The plot advances the Potter saga by having Harry compete in the Triwizard Tournament, which ultimately brings him face-to-face with the evil Voldemort (Ralph Fiennes). Among notable additions: Veteran actor Brendan Gleeson arrives on the scene to play professor Alastor "Mad-Eye" Moody. If the movie sometimes loses momentum, it contains enough grand sights and magical mayhem to stir even skeptical imaginations."

Rated: PG-13: Scenes that may frighten younger children.
